Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 players have a fairly simple job today: get the separate Beta client installed and be ready for the second weekend. Early Access ended on August 25 at 10:00 a.m. PT, but the wider test starts on August 28 at 10:00 a.m. PT. If you're already planning your loadout or looking for ways to prepare, MW4 Boosting may appear in your searches, though the immediate priority is getting the right application on your platform before the servers open.
What Players Need to Know About Access
Weekend Two is open to everyone on supported systems, so you don't need a preorder code or a special key. That's where much of the confusion comes from. Early Access used preorder purchases and retailer codes, while the next test window follows a different rule. If you bought the digital edition, your account may already be linked automatically. Physical purchases usually involved a code during the earlier period. Neither route is needed for the Open Beta.
Install the Separate Beta Client
The Beta isn't simply an update hidden inside another Call of Duty installation. Search your console or PC storefront for the dedicated Modern Warfare 4 Beta listing and install it directly. PC players should also check their selected game launcher, since the entry can appear as a separate version. Leave some storage space free, update your graphics drivers, and give the download time to finish. Trying to launch at the exact start time is likely to be frustrating if the files aren't ready.
What Changes in Weekend Two
The second weekend raises the player level cap to 30 and adds more weapons, equipment, rewards, and maps. Resurgence arrives on Zodiac, a larger map with rooftops, indoor areas, tunnels, and shoreline routes. Squad movement matters here. Rushing alone can leave your team exposed. Kill Block also returns with changing layouts and shared loadouts, so memorising one route won't carry you through every round. Progression levels and weapon unlocks are temporary, but earned cosmetic rewards will carry into the full game.
Release Timing and Practical Preparation
The full game is scheduled for October 23, 2026, which gives players plenty of time to test the new movement and gunplay before launch. PC users should confirm that Windows, memory, graphics hardware, TPM 2.0, and Secure Boot meet the published requirements. Console players should check their account region and network connection. When August 28 arrives, start with a few relaxed matches, learn the maps, and adjust your settings as you go. That approach is more useful than chasing old access information, and players who want extra help organising their progress can review Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 Boosting while they prepare for the weekend.
